Bereavement
Bereavement is an experience which brings feelings of loss and sadness, when we lose someone/something important in our lives. It is felt most strongly when a loved one dies, but similar feelings of loss can be felt in other situations, the loss of a job, divorce or if a best friend/relative moves away. Grieving for someone/something you love is a process made up of many feelings, which take time to work through and cannot be hurried. It always takes time to grieve, but eventually the pain becomes less raw over time.
You are not alone
Everyone will experience bereavement at some point during their life and will have feelings which may include shock; confusion; disbelief; emptiness; loneliness; anger; guilt; stress; anxiety; denial and/or depression, before accepting what’s happened. The intensity of each emotion and how long it lasts for each of us, will vary. There‘s no fixed time nor right or wrong way to grieve as it‘s so personal. However, talking to someone who understands can help make sense of it all.
