Sexually Transmitted Infections or STI’s
Sexually Transmitted Infections or STI’s are infections, which are mainly passed on through unprotected vaginal, oral, anal sex or genital contact with someone who has an STI. Anyone who has unprotected sex is putting themselves at risk of contracting an STI. Many people with an STI will have no symptoms and therefore will not be aware that they have an STI or that they need treatment. If left undetected and therefore untreated, some STI’s can lead to long term problems like infertility (in males and females,) there is also the risk of passing the infection on to someone else.
You are not alone
Since 1995 there have been large increases in the number of people diagnosed with STIs, particularly women in their late teens and men in their early twenties. (

All STI’s can be treated, though some of them cannot at present be cured. We understand that it can feel difficult or embarrassing to talk about STIs and to get tested; however there are lots of places you can go for free and confidential support and testing or treatment.
